A Year that Marked Time
Grateful, uncertain, hopeful, convicted, and excited for the life I will lead in 2024
When was the last time you had a year that “marked time” in your life? The kind of year that will always stand out as a distinct period in your mind?
2023 has proven to be one of those years, for me.
On a personal level, welcoming my first child has changed my life more than anything that has happened before. I didn’t expect to change my perspective on so many things, nor did I expect to seek out new creative outlets (like this blog) even as my “free time” has shrunk down to virtually zero.
I’ve also been deeply impacted by the horrific war crimes and atrocities being committed against the Palestinian people. I’ve done the little that I can do from where I am, but it is only a small comfort as we witness their unthinkable death and suffering every single day. It feels almost wrong or trite to say, but the truth is that seeing so much pain has fostered a profound gratitude for the life I am privileged to live.
The end of 2023 felt like a coalescing of many external factors, internal thoughts, and long-held hopes and dreams. I have never felt so grateful, uncertain, hopeful, convicted, or excited for the life I will lead as 2024 begins. This blog is intended to serve as a documentation of my thoughts as I go through this year but also as a vehicle to bring things that have only been mere ideas, to life.
I hope you will bear with me as I figure it all out.
