I know, I know. This is late and running into W3 of 2024. In my defense, we took a mini-trip to Oʻahu on Saturday to celebrate a 1st birthday so at least I missed the deadline for a good reason.
While it was fun to take a quick trip, MAN did I underestimate the effort required to travel with an infant (again…).

Bury Me in a Nancy Meyers Kitchen
I think I have finally crossed over into “old lady” territory this holiday season, starting with my unabashed viewing of every Hallmark Christmas movie I could get my hands on and, now, with my “discovery” of Nancy Meyer films and the cult following that her movie interiors have garnered.
What started as an innocent re-watching of The Holiday, a top “comfort” film, turned into a mildly obsessive Google search for Meyer’s other works (none as of 2015, with the Netflix deal fallen through). This led me to the Vogue article that was strangely able to identify my feelings about Amanda’s kitchen. Maybe it’s because I’m in the beginning stages of renovating my parent’s home, or maybe again, because of my newly found “old lady” status, but whatever the reason, kitchens, and home design have become a dominating thought lately.
Whatever the reason, the real score was this Architectural Digest article that showcases Meyer’s real-life L.A. home. While some of it is too rustic/country home for my taste, I was admittedly drooling over her vine-covered, arched entryway and double islands.
P.S. Upon the umpteenth viewing of The Holiday I have finally come to appreciate the score by Hans Zimmer. Paying attention to the musical compositions this time around elevated the film from typical rom-com fare, in my mind.
Homemade Alfredo Sauce
I am making an effort to cook more from scratch this year and last week’s attempt was this homemade Alfredo sauce from The Salty Marshmello. Unfortunately, I had just run out of Penne so I used another type which was less than successful in the end. The flavors of the sauce were pretty good, I think I may have just had too much pasta for it to have turned out the way I had hoped. Will try this one again.
And yes, you need to buy a real wedge of Parmigiano Reggiano. No bottled cheese *shudders*.
Sezane - Personalized Goods
I have never purchased anything from “cool-French-girl” brand, Sezane, but Pinterest suckered me into downloading their app and that is how I discovered the “Personalized” goods section.
Man, oh, man. If you know me, you know I love custom/personalized items. Probably to a fault. However, I am working on being more financially disciplined this year, so putting the things that interest me on a list (instead of adding to cart) will do for now.
