2024 : W3
I will admit that it’s only the third week of the year, and I’m already struggling to put a “recap” post together. The husband came down with a nasty virus this week so in an attempt to help him rest, I’ve taken on more than I usually do. PSA: Stay safe out there, folks. It is still cold season. Also, do what you can to take (good) care of your health and overall wellbeing!
Olive & June Nail Polish - Pink Goldfish
One small victory in my week was finally sloughing off some badly chipped nail polish and replacing it with a fresh coat of Olive & June’s “Pink Goldfish.” I have been a fan of Olive and June ever since Nicole sent me a bottle a few years ago. I love their long-lasting polishes and their topcoat is truly impressive.
Unfortunately, they don’t ship to Hawaiʻi, so I’m limited to whatever colors the local Target carries and this was a hard one to get. It is almost always sold out! Before this week, I had ordered it twice, only to have it out of stock both times (and not available to ship). So it sort of felt like I had won the lottery when I got the “Your order is ready for pickup” email instead of the “An item you ordered is out of stock” email.
It goes on really sheer and translucent but my nails are kind of gross right now, so I applied several coats to get the consistency I wanted. It did not disappoint! If you’re looking for a fun, new shade, I highly recommend Pink Goldfish.
MERIT Lightweight Lipstick - Baby
I guess it’s a beauty product kind of week? I’ve actually had this lipstick for a while but my lips were so unbelievably dry throughout my pregnancy and immediately postpartum that I gave up on lip color altogether.
I have to admit that I dug this out of the bottom of a drawer or bag somewhere (is it bad that I can’t even remember where I “found” it again?) a few days ago. It is also broken which for some makes me cringe a little bit every time I put it on. Something about the stick going back and forth in the holder just feels messy to me. But, the color is the perfect subtle shade of pink and the formula is moisturizing without being obnoxiously sticky. It was also barely used before I gave it up so I’m trying to make the best of it.
This is another product that was out of stock for the longest time (in the Sephora app). But it became available again this week and I managed to get one! Now, I’m trying to figure out how to keep this one from melting and breaking, which is a feat considering the area I live in is notoriously hot and muggy.
Homemade Meatballs
Continuing to try to cook from scratch once a week and this week it was meatballs. In all honesty, the recipe was from 101beforeone, which provides ideas for baby-led weaning meals that the whole family can eat. I didn’t have high hopes while making them but they turned out great in the end. No photo though, as I once again, did not take any photos before eating.
